The New Battle for Lunch
During covid lockdowns while consumers were changing their daily working lives, normally bustling city restaurants and busy food to go places were eerily deserted. The lunchtime business which normally sustained these outlets had disappeared. Operators were forced to discover new ways of generating revenue.
This white paper which I have co-authored with Francois Blouin, founder of Food Service Vision, looks at these changes and asks the questions: How much of this activity is permanent, and how much will the city lunchtime be changed? And crucially: what can operators and investors do about it? Where are their lunchtime opportunities?
