In this week’s WBR, I mark its 250th edition with a look back over the last five years and how the world has shifted beneath our feet. That debut edition packed in 141 news stories on the opening day of lockdown. But 2025 tells a very different story. The sector that once generated nearly 200 monthly stories now struggles to even meet headlines.
What does this silence mean? Has foodservice finally achieved that rarest business state - boring stability? Have all consolidations been completed, pivots perfected, lessons learned? Or has the industry become so predictable that its movements no longer warrant attention?
