In late July, the government revealed plans for tackling obesity issues, singling out restaurants. Ironic, given it was launched at the same time as Eat Out to Help Out which was focused on serving more meals in restaurants. Deemed by many as ‘another blow’ to the hospitality industry, the question on everyone’s lips is “is now, really the right time…?”
Meanwhile the latest reading from the Huq Index shows footfall in restaurants and pubs is now back to pre-EOtHO levels and is falling. This is no doubt due to new restrictions arising from the second wave of covid. I wonder how many operators had truly built this second wave into their plans?
