Overseas visitors likely to spend 50% less than in 2019

In this week’s numbers, I consider the impact of tourism. VisitBritain has published forecasts which suggests overseas tourists will return. According to my forecasts, they’re likely to spend something like 50% (or less after inflation) of the amount they did in 2019 on eating and drinking out. But, that’s a significant increase on the last two years. Will this welcome expansion be enough to offset the declining demand from Brits who are now taking overseas holidays?
